Shirley Mears: About Seeing God in the Hard

Shirley Mears has been married to her high school sweetheart for 47 years, she has five grandchildren, has been a radio host, tv personality, and is a savvy businesswoman. 
On this episode, Shirley talks about being diagnosed with breast cancer, and the anger she felt with God. She talks about changing her diet and her thinking, as she walked the hard road of battling cancer. 

Shirley encourages us to battle against negative thinking and self pity, by digging into God’s word and using his scripture to change our thinking. She talks about choosing to serve and love others during her hard season, rather than focusing on her own pain. This episode is a POWERFUL testimony of what it looks like when we choose to focus on Jesus and use His Word rather than the pain of our circumstances.   • Heather Poe is a mother of two, is celebrating 21 years of marriage with her love, and is a business owner.

Episode 18: Jenny Daer Shields; About the One Who Comforts

  • Jenny Daer Shields is a mother to a sweet little boy named Noah and wife to Marcus, who she met in the high school marching band. Jenny attends LifeChurch where she and her husband serve in kids ministry.  She just graduated from Oklahoma State University with a PhD in Clinical Psychology, and now works at the Center on Child Abuse and Neglect at OU Health Sciences Center.
  • On this episode, Jenny talks about going from an ankle injury to being diagnosed with a brain tumor. After a very hard season, and just when things began to settle, Jenny’s dad passed away suddenly, a month after her wedding.
  • Jenny shares her heart on the difficulty of walking through a world that is full of sorrow and sadness, but she points to the goodness of Jesus and how He walks through hard seasons with us. Her story is one that is full of grief, sickness and sadness, but also one that is full of God’s goodness and His faithfulness.
