Raegan Alvarez: About Leaving a Legacy

  • Raegan Alvarez continues in the family business of investing in the next generation as a teacher.

Kandi Jones; About the Myth of Being Unlovable

  • Kandi Jones is a mom to two girls  and wife to Todd. Kandi also serves as the NorthKids Director at NorthChurch and leads a thriving bible study group for moms called, Where Moms Connect. 
  • On this episode, Kandi talks about growing up with challenges that started early on. Kandi talks about the realities of being born with a cleft lip and palate, seeing alcoholism up close, the loss of her brother and more. She also shares the pain of miscarriage and walking through hard changes and challenges in her life. 
  • Kandi’s honesty is refreshing as she shares the lies she believed about herself, the difficulty in dealing with complex family relationships and words left unsaid after the death of her dad. Kandi addresses the lies and speaks of the truth of Jesus. She reminds us that our identity is based on him, and not the choices of family members, physical attributes, or accomplishments. This is such an encouraging episode for any girl (or guy) who has ever believed she is unlovable.

Episode 18: Jenny Daer Shields; About the One Who Comforts

  • Jenny Daer Shields is a mother to a sweet little boy named Noah and wife to Marcus, who she met in the high school marching band. Jenny attends LifeChurch where she and her husband serve in kids ministry.  She just graduated from Oklahoma State University with a PhD in Clinical Psychology, and now works at the Center on Child Abuse and Neglect at OU Health Sciences Center.
  • On this episode, Jenny talks about going from an ankle injury to being diagnosed with a brain tumor. After a very hard season, and just when things began to settle, Jenny’s dad passed away suddenly, a month after her wedding.
  • Jenny shares her heart on the difficulty of walking through a world that is full of sorrow and sadness, but she points to the goodness of Jesus and how He walks through hard seasons with us. Her story is one that is full of grief, sickness and sadness, but also one that is full of God’s goodness and His faithfulness.
